Chandra Berlin – Board President
Chandra Berlin brings nearly 20 years of hands-on experience in early childhood education and community collaboration to her work with the York County Kids Board of Directors, where she continues to champion efforts that support children, families, and the early childhood workforce.
In 2025, Chandra joined the Communities for Kids (C4K) team at Nebraska Children to work closely with communities in the southeastern region of the state. Before that, she served as an Early Childhood Coach for York Public Schools – Child Care Partnership, working directly with both in-home and center-based childcare providers. In that role, she provided mentoring, supported professional growth, and helped providers meet Nebraska’s Step Up to Quality standards—fostering stronger early childhood systems throughout York County.
Chandra has been closely involved with Communities for Kids in York since 2017, helping drive local strategies that address childcare access and quality. She is also a well-known facilitator and coach, bridging the gap between policy and day-to-day practice for those serving infants and toddlers.
This work is personal for me—I want every child in our community to have the strongest possible start.
She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the York County Health Coalition and Co-Chair of its Child, Youth, and Family Development group, and she facilitates the York County Child Care Alliance. Chandra is also a graduate of the Nebraska Early Childhood Policy Leadership Academy, a First Five Nebraska initiative focused on connecting local action with statewide impact.
She holds a degree in Child Development and Early Childhood Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is known for her collaborative spirit, relationship-building skills, and her commitment to creating lasting change from the ground up.
Chandra lives in York with her husband, Adam, and daughter, Vada. When she’s not advocating for early childhood programming or supporting providers, you’ll often find her teaching dance—another outlet for her passion for youth development and community engagement.
