Avery Blum – Board Member

Avery Blum brings a strong mix of professional insight, community leadership, and personal passion to her role on the York County Kids Board. As Executive Director of the York County Community Coalition (YC3), Avery works at the intersection of public health, family support, and youth well-being, advancing initiatives that make York a healthier, more connected place to live and raise children.

Avery earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan University and began her career as a Nursery Coordinator at the Women’s Penitentiary. She later served as a Child and Family Services Specialist with the Department of Health and Human Services before shifting to community-based work with YC3. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in School Counseling through Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.

Her experience as a childcare teacher, combined with her current role in coalition-building, gives her a unique perspective on the systems that support children and families from early education to mental health to community access.

Childcare is foundational, not only for families but for the future of our entire community. As a mom, small-business owner, and community advocate, I believe in elevating providers and helping families thrive.

In addition to her role with YCK, Avery serves as President of the Friends of the Library Board, is a board member of the York County Development Corporation (YCDC), and is active in York Rotary. She also owns a small creative business with her mother and sister, which travels to markets to offer personalized products and hats.

Avery lives in York with her husband, Clay, and their son, Denton. When she’s not at work or volunteering, she enjoys dancing, reading thrillers (including her favorite, The Housemaid), watching 1011 news, and spending time playing games with her family at home.
